BB Love to Brian Buterbaugh

Brian was pretty much shredded by the judges for his attempt at Edie Sedgwick's hairstyle, particularly the quantity of dark roots he left showing after he added the lighter color. While the style may not have been historically accurate, it did flatter the model's face and was actually pretty darn cute. Unfortunately it did not fit the bill of the challenge.

Brian, you were very entertaining all season and we are sorry to see you go. We wish you much success in the future.

Congratulations, Brian!

It was a double win for Brian this week. In the Short Cut Challenge, he used a mud mask and reddish dye to create an up-do reminiscent of a flower bud. Not only was it ornamented with flowers, it was a flower itself, and it looked lovely. In the Elimination Challenge, Brian and his model worked together to create a style that was both pleasing to her and flattering. The judges were impressed, and we were happy to see Brian show off what he can really do.

Shear Genius Season 3 Bio - Brian Buterbaugh

Brian worked his way in the beauty industry from the ground up, earning a scholarship to the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy. He moved to New York City thirteen years ago and has since established himself as a stylist to some of the biggest names in television, film, and music including Bjork, Keri Russell, Matthew Fox, Hayden Panettiere and many more. Brian also worked as the key hairstylist on The Tyra Banks Show and The Tony Danza Show, and is currently at Chris Chase Salon. Along with an interest in hair fashion, Brian is a songwriter and short filmmaker specializing in Super 8 film. He is currently setting up a production company that shoots fashion promotional videos in the vain of the Andy Warhol screen tests dedicated to spotlighting "hair as art."
