Alex and Simon Book Tour in Philly

Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen, breakout stars of Bravo's The Real Housewives of New York City, brought their book tour to Borders in downtown Philadelphia on Friday, June 11th. The couple discussed Little Kids, Big City: Tales from a Real House in New York City (With Lessons on Life and Love for Your Own Concrete Jungle)and then answered questions from the enthusiastic audience before signing books for their fans.

At one point 'the chums,' Johan and François, were mentioned and Alex and Simon announced that the boys would be in the store shortly; this was met with approval from the crowd. Later when the boys arrived they received a gift of some Silly Bandz from one of the fans. Alex informed her sons quickly, "There are 20 in the package. That means 10 for each of you" which gave the energetic twosome something to do while they waited for their popular parents.

Meanwhile questions were asked about Season 3, the RHoNYC cast mates and the reunion show. The duo never gossiped but instead give their opinions. For example, when asked about the infamous eye-popping catwalk of Ramona Singer they graciously explained how intimidating the runway can be with cameras flashing; in the end it seems Ramona's vivid turn was actually a good thing for designer Loris Diran in that he received more publicity!

Alex and Simon were charming, funny, accessible and very comfortable in their celebrity. But most of all they presented as a couple that loves each other and their roles as parents. You can see their upcoming appearances on their Facebook page or their website.

And don't forget to buy their book. I started to read mine on the train ride home from the event and found it well-written and completely engaging.
